Clive Hyer is a Commercial Litigator who qualified in 1986. He joined Rosenblatt in 1992 and became a partner in 1996. The majority of Clive’s specialist practice is in the handling of contract and negligence disputes between individual and companies. His corporate clients include Cairn Capital Ltd and the inter-dealer broker Tullett Prebon Group Ltd for whom he recently acted in the case of Tullett Prebon Group Ltd v G El-Hajjali. Clive successfully brought a land-mark action for the payment of damages to Tullett Prebon by a broker who signed a contract to join the company but failed to do so. He is currently working with Tullett Prebon on a claim for an injunction against their former Chief Operating Officer who has joined a competitor prior to the expiry of his notice.
Clive also runs a personal injury practice for Claimants who have suffered severe personal injuries in conjunction with the Commercial Litigation. Notable successes in this field include one of the then largest awards (in June 2007) of an interim payment for a baby severely injured by an NHS Trust. Since April 2006 Clive has led a 20+ dedicated team bringing a multi-million pound claim against HM Ministry of Defence on behalf of nearly 1,000 Armed Service Veterans who were exposed to atomic weapons radiation fallout as a result of the nuclear bomb tests in the Pacific in the 1950s. In order to pursue this case Clive secured (in December 2007) the then largest After-the Event Insurance policies to protect the veteran Claimants.
