Associate, Dispute Resolution
Suzanne Hu trained at Rosenblatt, becoming an Associate in 2016. Her practice covers a range of commercial and corporate disputes, and she has a particular interest in unfair competition law arising from the unlawful diversion of business, covering issues such as breach of confidence, breach of fiduciary duties, restrictive covenants (including non-soliciting/poaching/dealing clauses), intellectual property infringements and passing off, and trade libel.
Suzanne most recently acted in the reported case of Destiny Investments (1993) Ltd & Anr -v- TH Holdings Ltd & Ors  EWHC 657 (Ch). She represented public and private Israeli companies in unfair prejudice proceedings in respect of their investment portfolio which included two of the UK’s largest hotels.
Recent work includes:
- Music Choice Limited’s various trade mark disputes with Target Brands Inc – successfully protecting the digital music television service’s branding of a red and white bullseye device against the American retailer Target who attempted to register a red and white bullseye device in the same markets.
- Tullett Prebon plc & Ors -v- BGC Brokers LP & Ors  EWHC 484 (QB),  EWCA Civ 131 – representing Tullett Prebon in respect of its rival BGC’s attempt to poach up to 100 of its brokers. The proceedings between the two broking heavyweights were highly publicised and set precedent in “team move” litigation.
- Continental Capital Markets SA -v- GFI Holdings Ltd & Ors (Case No 2011 folio 1424) – acting in concurrent English and Swiss proceedings for a Swiss brokerage in relation to GFI’s attempt to poach 50% of its brokers. The case was named by The Lawyer magazine as a Top 10 Case for 2013.
- Global Energy Horizons Corp -v- Gray  EWHC 2232 (Ch) – representing a Canadian company in its enquiry into damages flowing from the diversion by one of its shareholders of an opportunity to exploit commercially a new and innovative ultrasound technology in the oil and gas sector.
